Time To Renovate Your Logo?

June 2, 2009

How long has your company had it’s current logo? Ever feel like it’s time for a change..Time to Spice it up and make it a little more modern day? Everybody’s doing it. Check out the latest best and worst renovated logos. You notice the logos are now moving more futuristic, more gradients, more colors, text-free (Apple). Does it really rebrand your company with a new renovated logo? Do you know Pepsi paid the Arnell Group $1 Million dollars to redesign their logo? Not to mention the cost of all new packaging, cans, advertising and internal office supplies such as letterhead, business cards, envelopes. Something to think about. Changing your logo is a big decision but is it worth it?

Tips

  • Make sure your logo is on EVERYTHING. Anything that leaves your company… packaging slips, envelopes, invoices, etc.
  • Use your new logo as a reason to promote. Emails, Newsletters, Mailings to announce this new change!
  • Now that you have more direction in your company than on day 1 when you created your logo.. ask yourself, is my logo outdated? Google the latest logos and get ideas. Change with the times!
  • There needs to be a reason to redesign. Outdated… audience change… branding change. It’s a serious decision with a lot of work entailed.

There was a study with the IBM and Apple logo proving that if the user of the computer is seeing the Apple logo as apposed to IBM they were rated as doing more creative work. Tying in with Apple’s many slogans and promoting creativity in all of it’s advertising. Proving to us that we mentally have emotional and mind altering effects when seeing specific logos. Logos are extremely important in branding our company. Wouldn’t we all dream that our logo could have the same impact?    (More on this study go here)

Believe it or not the latest trend is hidden messages. Check out these popular hidden message logos. Need creative ideas? Brainstorm… what is your companies purpose? Is there an object you want to be hidden? Or as in Fedex an arrow insinuating speed. Giving someone an optical illusion can intrigue a customer.

Impressed By ASI Roadshows!

June 2, 2009

We are! ASI Advantages Roadshows have been a huge success for us this year. We’ve been blown away. At first yes it sounds exhausting and a lot of work but it’s well worth it. In 2008 we just dabbed into what ASI Roadshows had to offer and when setting off our 2009 year start I was scheduled for 2 Roadshows within the first quarter and was thinking it was going to be too much. I was totally wrong. It was a great experience and we’ve had a huge success from both. You really get to build great personal relationships with the attendees. It is a great benefit to the attendees as well. They get more one on one time to really talk with the supplier, swap information and from my experience you are in touch and doing some type of business within a week or two. We are STILL having orders trickle in from my shows in March. I have built an increasing large amount of relationships with customers in new areas that we didn’t have much of a costumer base in before. It was nerve racking and definitely taking a chance going into the Midwest, somewhere we don’t have a huge client base. We had no specific customers coming to meet with us.. we were going in blind. But I left the show with 40-50 promising leads. Me as a young woman traveling around the country alone with this team of distributors may sound scary but it was completely fine and comfortable.  ASI makes sure you are taken care of. Having the show hours of 9-1 gives you extra time to have personal meetings in the afternoon and still meet your next destination in plenty of time.

Advice? Be prepared. Take a lot of catalogs… get them shipped midweek to the 3rd location. Have enough samples (if your company provides samples) and TALK! These distributors are there to talk, learn, listen… so converse! Don’t just pitch your product and move on to the next. This isn’t the Vegas show being bombarded by 20 people at once. They have patience, they’re gonna be there all day. They’ll linger and browse until you are ready. Ritter’s future plans for ASI Roadshows? LOTS more to come. 2010 will bring many more roadshows and much less big shows for Ritter. We’ve found our niche!

Knock-Offs!

June 2, 2009

Even with our recent involvement with our Facebook… Twitter… Blogging… and trying so many new things to keep the customer interested in our product, the bottom line is people want cheap. Unfortunately Ritter Pen is not a cheap product. We are a high quality German product line that lasts, therefore costs a little. It’s hard being that each one of us here at Ritter are being hit personally in these hard economic times that it is understandable but no less frustrating in the work place. What else are we to do? We can sell sell sell and pitch all of our great qualities but when will it be attainable again for our customers? Hearing back from follow-ups from our customers saying they love our product and so do their customers but it’s not in the budget or we never hear back from a customer after giving them our pricing. Why? Because they’ve gone with a China knock-off for 1/3 of the price. Unfortunately there’s only so low we can go to help the occasional customer get the sale (obviously we want it too!) But when we’re manufactured in Germany the Euro to the dollar doesn’t give us much room to budge. We do everything we can.  It’s a struggle and very devastating see some of our biggest and best clients go by the waste side  because they’ve started selling the china knock-off that falls apart and only writes for a week. Not only frustrating because we’ve lost this customer relationship and sale but also frustrating when we’re out representing our company line and people tell us they have that pen at home and the clip broke off or it stopped writing… and so on. I know immediately it is not a Ritter Pen. Not possible. But do they care if ours wont fall apart and run out of ink? Nope. They are only willing to pay 10cents for a pen. So what now… ? Twitter? More advertising? Facebook? Blogging? Specials? More trade shows? More traveling visits? All on a now much smaller budget? Desperate times call for desperate measures. I think that is everyones motto personally and professionally these days. We all just have to hang in there.. it will get better. It has to!
